A thriving business community
Taunton has a thriving business community, with dynamic, supportive business organisations and networks as well as a wide range of places to meet for conferences and business meetings. The diversity of sectors based here helps to create this strong business culture, with many businesses working together to form clusters of networks. It makes for a responsive place to work – it’s a great place to do business!
Support for your business
The Taunton Chamber of Commerce and the Somerset Chamber of Commerce will welcome you to the town and encourage you to join the friendly business community. These and other membership groups provide a weekly programme of breakfast and dinner events, for learning or just networking with peers and fellow Taunton based businesses. We also have a wide range of business networking organisations in Taunton.
CONFERENCE AND MEETING VENUES
Conference facilities with great connections
With Taunton’s excellent location and connections the town has become a first choice for conferencing and bigger business meetings in the region. Whatever your requirements, Taunton will have the solution.
If you love cricket, why not book your next regional meeting in a spectator’s box in the Colin Atkinson Pavilion of the Somerset County Cricket Club? Alternatively, the Taunton Rugby offers facilities for meetings of all sizes, overlooking its Hyde Park Lane ground.
First class meeting facilities
For a more traditional setting, the Castle Hotel in the centre of Taunton provides first class meeting and conference facilities along with overnight accommodation in the 4-star listed hotel.
“The business community is very engaged and is always looking at ways to make improvements”
Claims Consortium Group, is a fast growing Taunton-based claims handling company that advises insurance companies how to best settle their household and commercial claims. Jeremy Hyams, Chief Executive Officer from the group explains why he chose Taunton as their base.
At the company’s embryonic stage – in other words, when it was just me – I had the luxury of choosing wherever I wanted to start up so Taunton was a lifestyle choice. The company is now embedded within Taunton. The business community is very engaged and is always looking at ways to make improvements.
The culture within Taunton allows us to hire staff who really suit the business and embrace our culture. Our staff are always very engaging and always looking to better themselves. Businesses are willing to share best practices and to explore collaborative opportunities.
Taunton’s rail connection to London Paddington has worked very well for us as we can get into London within two hours making London meetings a lot more accessible.
As a busy Father, Taunton offers me the great ability to relax with the countryside and the many walks on the doorstep.”
